I love going to Chris Crocker's youtube page for something to blog about, because if you need the point of view of a person in the LGBT community who is a bit eccentric, he's the one to look for.

In this video he rants about how people who were once ashamed of their sexuality is finally coming out when they are no longer in the spot light. He also continues to say that it is a new trend in Hollywood.

I definitely agree with him. I feel that being gay, lesbian, or bi is becoming a trend, not just in Hollywood, but everywhere else, too. At least everywhere I have been. People who once swore that they were straight and would never be able to experiment are all of a sudden coming out bisexual or even gay/lesbian. And I'm not trying to say that some of them aren't legitimitly gay/lesbian/bi, but some people are experimenting, and there's nothing wrong with that. But it is those who swear up and down that they could never sway one way, but they end up swaying.

"What's behind 'blue is for boys, pink is for girls'"

In the article, "What's behind 'blue is for boys, pink is for girls'" from The Carolinian, staff writer, Claire Macomson states her opinions on why she has loathed the color pink for so long. She explains that the reason she does not like the color is because of the surrounding politics that society places on it. Such as, "pink is for girls." She continues to explain that society has placed gender connotations on the color as well as the color blue. Blue is for boys and pink is for girls. If any boy wears the color pink he is considered gay, if a girl wears the color blue she is a tomboy.

I feel that this may have been the case years ago, but it is not the case anymore. I feel that men and women alike are able to wear any color under the rainbow without being accused of any sexual orientation. I feel that color has nothing to do with sexuality.

Chris Crocker speaks on the subject of gender identity. Saying that we shouldn't have to live up to the standards or expectations of our mothers and fathers, but to live up to our own expectations. There isn't much difference between men and women because we are all people and there shouldn't be a division between us.

Racism

During the fourth week of our class we talked about isms, racism being one of them. In this video, there is a stereotypical black man depicted on the left, with his bandana, baggy clothes, and fitted cap. The black man in the "dusty ass suit" goes on a rant about how some blacks feel it's not "black" to be well spoken or wear a suit. I really like satire on real problems that we still face today.

Cindy McCaine, daughter of John McCain, can be seen posing in a picture for the NOH8 campaign. This campaign is pro-gay marriage and anti-prop 8. This ad was shocking to some people because John McCain was against gay marriage during his running for president.
